In-flight mobile calls begin

Tube trains and aeroplanes are two of the only places that you escape the incessant bleeping of mobile phones - until now, that is.

Emirates Airline has begun allowing passengers to use mobile phones on flights and the first-ever (legal) mobile call from an Emirates airliner was made on Good Friday from 30,000 feet.

Flaws found in Safari browser

An Argentinian security researcher has discovered two flaws in Apple’s Safari for Windows browser.

Juan Pablo Lopez Yacubian said the vulnerabilities could allow hackers to remotely take control of a victim’s computer.

Raikkonen dominates Malaysian GP

Glorious, then victorious, Kimi Raikkonen took another run at looking like a proper world champion Sunday and came up trumps with a comprehensive victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix. The Finn finished nearly 20 seconds ahead of BMW Sauber’s Robert Kubica, who held a similar edge over the third-placed Finn, Heikki Kovalainen of McLaren Mercedes.

McLaren drivers docked five places

Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen have each been moved five places down the grid for blocking rival drivers in qualifying for the Malaysian Grand Prix.The McLaren pair were investigated by the stewards after qualifying following claims that they had impeded Nick Heidfeld and Fernando Alonso in the closing stages of the session.

Massa leads all-Ferrari front row at Sepang

Felipe Massa took a commanding pole position for Ferrari in the Malaysian Grand Prix qualifying.The Brazilian, who was also on pole at Sepang a year ago, was almost half a second faster than teammate Kimi Raikkonen as the Ferraris secured both front row positions.

The McLarens had to settle for the second row, with Heikki Kovalainen beating Lewis Hamilton to third by 0.096 seconds.

Ferrari advance with 2009 car development

Ferrari are set to make an early track debut for their 2009 car as they bid to make the most of a major overhaul of technical regulations for next year.With a new set of aerodynamic rules, allied to the likely return of slick tyres, a number of teams are already hard at work in preparing their future challengers.

And Ferrari sporting director Stefano Domenicali says his team will need to ensure they keep up their work for 2009 while also improving their current F2008.

Applied carefully, High Dynamic Range-technique (HDR) can create incredibly beautiful pictures which blur our sense of the difference between reality and illusion. In graphics HDR imaging is a set of techniques that allow a far greater dynamic range of exposures than normal digital imaging techniques. The intention is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes, ranging from direct sunlight to the deepest shadows. This is usually achieved by modifying photos with image processing software for tone-mapping. And the results can be really incredible; in fact, many artists and designers come up with some pretty fancy results.
